We enjoy celebrating every holiday and seasonal event with our residents throughout the year, but St. Patrick’s Day is one of our special favorites. It isn’t all the green or talk of good luck that makes us love this wonderful day each year-it’s the food!

We simply swoon for traditional Irish and St. Patrick’s Day recipes for their hearty and delicious flavors. We’re especially fond of Irish Soda Bread, Stuffed Cabbage and Shepherd’s Pie, but we’re also partial to delicate and delightful Irish Tea Cakes.

This year, celebrate the luck of the Irish and a day filled with good luck and great cheer by preparing any one of these classic St. Patrick’s Day recipes we love! Cheers to you and yours!

Irish Beef Stew
On a cold or rainy St. Patrick’s Day, warm yourself and your loved ones up with this hearty, savory stew recipe from Simply Recipes made with garlic, Guinness, red wine, beef, onions, potatoes, carrots and more. This traditional recipe will fill you up, and keep you satisfied, especially if you plan to drink a green beer or two!

Shepherd’s Pie
We're especially fond of this delicious and ultra-convenient shepherd's pie recipe from Martha Stewart that doesn't require you to chop vegetables all day and night. If you plan to prepare several dishes for a St. Patrick's Day celebration, or just don't have time to spend in the kitchen, this recipe is your winner!

Irish Soda Bread
Every year, we wait for a hearty dose of this classic irish soda bread with raisins from Just baking this recipe will get you feeling the spirit of the season, but the perfect texture and precisely right amount of sweetness will have you feeling your good fortune, right away!

Corned Beef and Cabbage
We love this recipe, especially because it can be prepped and cooking all day in the slow-cooker while you head outdoors to watch a parade or celebrate around town! Martha Stewart never disappoints when it comes to hearty meals, and this corned beef and cabbage recipe is delicious and so simple to make.

Green Eggs and Ham
Wake your family up with the spirit of the day, and prepare this fun and delicious green eggs and ham dish from The Kitchn. Rather than use yucky food dyes, we love this delicious spinach sauce as the inspiration for the green eggs, and it doesn't hurt that it's incredibly tasty for eaters of all ages (and healthy!).

Irish Potato Cakes
We'll eat potatoes almost any way, but potato cakes have to be one of our favorites. Crisp, flavorful and perfect for little ones and big ones in your family, this recipe is easy to make and serve, or freeze and reheat later!

Stuffed Cabbage
This easy-to-prepare recipe is made with hearty, flavorful meats and veggies and is filling without weighing you down. You can prepare this recipe anytime of year, but it's an especially perfect dinner recipe during St. Patrick's Day celebrations, and will become a cherished recipe for every member of your family for years to come.

Irish Tea Cake
This delightful tea cake recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser, and is incredibly easy to make. Make sure to soak your currants overnight in tea for the perfect blend of flavors, and you'll be well on your way to combining ingredients, baking to perfection and slicing into just the right slice on St. Patrick's Day.
